Here in Colorado, we have daily thunder storms during the summer. Sometimes, the strikes take out a phase of 3 phase service. My fellow maintenance guy and I scramble to make sure the older equipment and pumps are shut down before loosing the pumps or motors. The P5R does the job of seeing around the plant floor to identify the motors or pumps that did not drop off line. We quickly push the reset to drop off the contactors before the power comes back on. It's usually as short as a few seconds to a half hour or more outage. By spotting the older systems, we;re able to save the systems until the company slowly replace these systems.
