QUANTITY AND QUALITY

The lumen output of the new CREE® LED chips allows for some of the brightest lights on the market. To complement these powerful LEDs, we redesigned the patented Reflector—Lens to maximize the efficiency of the Advanced Focus System. This allows our flashlights and headlamps to have brighter spot beams for long-distance viewing or cleaner, wider light distribution for up-close illumination.

LED LENSER developed the new "Frozen Black" textured coating for improved grip and comfort, allowing for easier handling in harsh conditions or while wearing gloves.

REDESIGNED SWITCH

The P & T Series switch has been redesigned for ease-of-use, even with gloves. the H Series switch has also been updated to operate the light from the front of the headlamp, as well as the back.

NEW SCROLL WHEEL INTERFACE

The new scroll wheel allows the user to easily choose the brightness of the headlamp. The scroll wheel also features a red light that blinks for cyclists and runners.


NEW ERGONOMIC DESIGN

The light unit, head straps and battery box have been redesigned with a specially formed battery case and more comfortable foam to conform to the natural curve of the user's head. This ensures maximum comfort during extended use.

Advanced Focus System™

Traditionally, light-focusing systems have consisted of either a lens, or a reflector. The Advanced Focus System (AFS) is the patented combination of a reflector AND lens to create a light system that provides both a focused beam for long-distance and a homogenous spill-beam for up-close reading. AFS means whether you’re reading a map up close or focusing down the path to a landmark in the distance, your light will be easy on the eyes, clear and bright.

RAPID FOCUS

With our Rapid Focus system you can go from reading to searching by using the thumb on your holding hand to simply slide the bezel away from you. With one hand and one movement, you can achieve seamless transition from close to far and all points in between.

Blue Moon Focus System

Thanks to their special prismatic structure, our lenses separate parts of the blue spectrum from the white spectrum. The blue components are thus projected to the edge of the light cone and the result is an excellent, clean white light to read by with a mellow blue circle to frame the reading area. Blue Moon optics make reading and general viewing easy on the eyes for less eye fatigue.

Smart Light Technology allows you to program your light functions to the task at hand. Three light functions (Power, Low Power, and Defense Strobe) are easily operated with full or half clicks, ensuring your focus will be on the job, not on your light.

What if you could simply pop your light up to a magnet and go? Well, now you can with our unique Floating Charge System. Simply mount the recharging system on the wall and plug it in. When you’re ready to recharge your flashlight, just touch the end-cap to the floating charge magnet and walk away. A charging indicator will tell you when you’re ready to go again. Traveling with your light is no problem – pop off the top of the charging system and plug it into the USB adapter to charge from your laptop, car, or hotel room USB port.

ANSI / FL1 STANDARDS

Recently, a need for a standard performance platform for the flashlight industry was recognized. The absence of a consistent performance standard has made it difficult to provide comparable product claims and effectively communicate features and benefits, which consumers use to select the right flashlight for their specific needs. Our research indicates a consistent performance platform would be quite beneficial to help users make the right selection when choosing a flashlight.

In addition, the category is changing rapidly as new companies and products enter the market. Flashlight technology has radically changed and consumers are eager to learn more about these new disruptive technologies.

Current agencies, such as UL (Underwriters Laboratories), do not provide performance standards for flashlights, so major retailer's that employ testing firms are requesting guidance.

 

FLASHLIGHT STANDARDS

To respond to this need, 14 flashlight companies, including LED LENSER, collaborated to write a standard. They included the following products: hand-held/portable flashlights, spotlights, and headlamps.

The ANSI/NEMA FL 1 Standard has been ratified and includes six measures. Each measure is defined, has a test procedure specified, and has an associated icon to use for claims. Standard ratification included voters representing three groups: 1) manufacturers, 2) users, and 3) general interests - one group cannot represent more than 50% of the total ratifying vote.

Light Output is the total luminous flux. It is the total quantity of emitted overall light energy as measured by integrating the entire angular output of the portable light source. Light output in this standard is expressed in units of lumens.

Beam Distance is defined as the distance from the device at which the light beam is 0.25 lux (0.25 lux is approximately the equivalent of the light emitted from the full moon on a "clear night in an open field")

Run Time is defined as the duration of time from the initial light output value-defined as 30 seconds after the point the device is first turned on using fresh batteries, until the light output reaches 10% of the initial value.

These standards are accredited by ANSI, which is a private non-profit organization that oversees the development of voluntary consensus standards for products, services, processes, systems, and personnel in the United States. The organization also coordinates U.S. standards with international standards so American products can be used globally.
